About Us

Epicurious Catering, a boutique catering company now owned and operated by Amber Thom and Chef Jamie Hodges got its start in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2007. We enjoyed five successful years serving our Vancouver clients, but our lives and the birth of our beautiful daughter have brought us to the shores of Lake Ontario to live in Kingston, closer to our family. We are excited to bring our passion for delectable and local food to the Limestone City and surrounding area.

Epicurious Catering will always look for the most ethical food choices, from Ocean Wise-certified seafood to locally grown, organic produce. We work with farmers and food producers in the area to find the best in seasonal tastes, and our menus change constantly depending on what’s deliciously in season that week. We are mindful of our waste and take all necessary steps to ensure that our business operates with a thoughtful consciousness of the world around us.

Chef Jamie Hodges left his hometown of Wellington, New Zealand after graduating from City & Guild’s London Diploma of Culinary Arts in 2001. After working in kitchens in New Zealand and Australia, Jamie was lured to Canada in 2004 by the slopes of the West Coast and spent three years in Whistler at the Raw Bar at Araxi. In Vancouver, Jamie worked for two years at the award-winning Cibo Trattoria, which won Best New Restaurant in Canada from En Route Magazine 2009 and most recently was the Co-Chef and helped open the Red House in downtown Kingston. Jamie has worked with a wide range of cuisines over the years and at Epicurious he has developed his passion for working with locally sourced, organic food at the height of its season to create simple, elegant plates for clients in eastern Ontario.

Kingston native Amber Thom graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce in Hotel and Food Administration in 2002. She returned to Kingston to manage the Slip Lounge at the Holiday Inn Kingston Waterfront until 2004 before moving to Vancouver, where she managed the Saltlik Steakhouse as well as the Uva Wine Bar, which was named Best Bar/Lounge in Vancouver in 2010 by Vancouver Magazine. Amber started Epicurious Catering in Vancouver with her founding partner, Chef Jon Norrish. Amber loves working on the front lines of the business .“I love witnessing our clients having a ‘food moment,’ where they try something new and are genuinely blown away by the taste and flavour.
